Job Title: System Administrator
Job Description: Location: Chester, VA / Contract.

This position will require the assigned Systems administrator to perform the traditional systems administrative tasks, develop the associated artifacts to effectively support the successful completion of IT sustainment and will support various IT Infrastructure projects.

Local candidates strongly preferred.
ONLY in-person interviews will be requested.

Responsibilities:
  • Act as the Systems Administrator expert and provide a wealth of knowledge to the team in the area of IT Infrastructure.

  • Experience performing in a systems administrator role and performing traditional systems administrative functions while in this role.

  • Basic knowledge of COTS (commercial off the shelf) application deployments and the associated infrastructure required to host the application.

  • Candidate must have advanced knowledge of IT Infrastructure in at least one of these areas: hardware, networks or facilities or must have a solid understanding of all areas if candidate is not an expert in one given area .

  • Experience working on IT Infrastructure projects as a systems administrator .

  • Ability to collaborate with other team members within a complex environment .

  • Ability to work independently on assigned efforts and with a team of System Administrators / other technical subject matter experts.

  • Ability to work with multiple project teams & execution streams moving simultaneously while sharing resources.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain required clearance is required Preferred Qualifications.

  • Previous experience leading or participating in administrator activities related to medium to large IT Infrastructure sustainment projects.

  • Knowledge of core data center infrastructure solutions (physical / virtual servers, storage, backup, networking, Active Directory, authentication solutions).

  • Knowledge of core "birthright" applications client delivers to all employees (Exchange, SharePoint, Lync, Mobile Device Management, Anti-Virus, Encryption, Authentication).

  • Perform a variety of technical planning activities.

  • Gather and document project requirements and build associated acceptance criteria and test plans.

  • Design solutions to meet all known requirements.

  • Gather / build solution design artifacts.

  • Plan / participate in design reviews.

  • Present project solutions to the customer for consideration / approval.

  • Plan transition into production approach and make sure the recurring support production team is ready to accept the project solutions.

  • Build the Business Impact Analyses for all solutions, working with the customer to establish the overall financial impact.

Skills Needed:
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Creative problem solving abilities.

  • Ability to communicate complex technical topics to non-technical audiences.

  • Experience performing in a systems administrator role and performing traditional systems administrative functions while in this role.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 9 years of technically relevant field experience.

  • Associates Degree in a technical relevant field such as Systems Administrator, Industrial Administrator, Computer Science, Computer Administrator, Electrical Administrator, Math, Physics, etc.
