Job Description: Location: Little Rock,AR / Contract.

The Senior Database Administrator will work under the supervision of current client– Network & Server Administration (Dev-Ops) staff to build internal capacity; migrate and support the databases for client Education Information Systems.

Local candidates strongly preferred.
Must be available for face to face, NO skype, NO exceptions.

Description:
  • The Senior Database Administrator will be a member of the Dev-Ops Team and will be responsible for directly supporting the daily administration of the agency's Microsoft SQL Server databases.

  • Responsibilities include capacity planning work and monitoring database growth and design, maintaining and ensuring High Availability solutions including replication, clustering, performance tuning etc.

  • Following are the high-level tasks that the Database Administrator will be tasked with, not limited to.

  • Create automated/scheduled (monthly/quarterly/yearly) SQL Server Heath Check, Memory Utilization Report and Compliance (Licensing) Reports for the agency.

  • Implement SQL Server Integrity check for databases on all Servers.

  • Perform Microsoft SQL database administration including software installations/configurations for SQL Server and peripheral features/products such as log shipping, mirroring, and maintenance packs (dbcc, backups, re-indexing).

  • Troubleshoot complex systems to identify bottlenecks (SQL, IO, hardware, query related, etc.) and resolve database related issues.

  • Responsibilities include capacity planning work (on Production, UAT, DEV or QA and DR environments) and monitoring database growth and design, maintaining and ensuring High Availability solutions including replication, clustering, performance tuning etc.

  • Duties include developing and enforcing database standards and best practices including performance, security, monitoring policies and procedures along with researching improvements to enhance overall system performance.

  • Provide hands-on training, mentoring and support to current client – Network & Server Administration staff with Microsoft SQL Server databases.

  • Client currently does not have a named Database Administrator in their IT team.

  • The department manages 15 Enterprise level SQL Servers.

  • One of the core responsibilities of the DBA is to set up high availability.

  • Replication and Log Shipping across the two (2) data centers between Big Mac Data Center and State Date Center – West from SQL Server perspective.

Skills Needed:
  • 8 Years of experience in SQL Database Administration required.

  • 6 Years of experience in Enterprise Level Database Migration/Development required.

  • 5 Years of experience in configuring SQL Server Replication Across Data Center required.

  • 6 Years of experience in MS SQL Server 2012/2014/2016/2017 (ALL) required.

  • 5 Years of experience in SQL monitoring tools – Red Gate; SQL Sentry; etc required.

  • Experience in SQL Server certification (Active) required.

  • Arkansas K-12 Education Data Systems highly desired
