Job Title: IT Systems Architect
Job Description: Location: Richmond, VA / Contract

Development and maintenance of application architecture for major applications/systems and ensuring that the architecture is in compliance with the approved standards. Performance of risk assessments working with the IT Risk Management team for applications that include in-house, vendor, and SaaS solutions.

Local candidates strongly preferred.

  • Participate in business process design and development of technology roadmaps.

  • Guide and advise the application support teams with application enhancements and troubleshooting technical issues.

  • Provide architectural assistance for capital and O&M projects to include:

  • create high level application design in compliance with IT standards

  • Map the application components to the appropriate hardware, software, and network infrastructures by collaborating with infrastructure architects

  • Specify the methods and tools to be used for development and enhancement of the application(s) consistent with application requirements and established ITCC standards

  • Perform design reviews, code reviews, and operational readiness reviews

  • Coordinate application performance testing and remediation; coordinate security vulnerability testing and remediation

  • Develop and review technical recovery plans

  • At least 5 years of experience in developing application architecture, process maps, and high level application design

  • Experience with design and development of .NET applications is preferred

  • Experience with Sitecore web content management is preferred

  • Experience with SharePoint and Office 365 is preferred

  • Experience with a multi-platform operating environment and distributed computing architectures

  • Good understanding of application and data security – ability to identify and remediate security vulnerabilities in applications/systems

  • Demonstrated ability working with Oracle and SQL Server databases

  • Demonstrated ability working with application server environments – IIS, WebLogic etc

  • Knowledge in development environments – Development IDEs, source control, build automation, and change management tools

  • Demonstrated organization and planning skills that include the ability to handle multiple projects, deadlines and associated pressures, and to manage work

  • Demonstrated competency in analytical and logical thinking

  • Demonstrated ability to identify and solve problems

  • Demonstrated ability to create a network of relevant individuals to solve operational problems

  • Experience in the adaptation to and the application of rapidly changing technology to business needs
