Job Title: Linux Administrator (Data Center Operations)
Job Description: Location: Richmond, VA / Contract

Perform server hardware and OS support, Server Administration duties primarily for Red Hat Linux. Perform script development and disk space management as needed. Provide technical support for software application developers, database administrators, and other IT support staff. General NAS/SAN administration knowledge is a plus.

Local candidates strongly preferred.
Only Green Card and US Citizen required, No C2C.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Information Systems

  • Knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as 2 years experience in server/storage technology – including:

  • Linux server Operating System administration

  • VMWare

  • NAS/SAN storage concepts/administration including NetApp Ontap

  • General TCP/IP network knowledge

  • General IT Linux security knowledge

Primary duties and responsibilities:
  • Maintain Server and Storage Hardware.

  • Installation of rack mount server hardware in standard 80 inch racks within the confined spaces of computer rooms including:

  • Installation of power cords under 24 inch raised floor.

  • Installation of fiber and/or network cables in 96 inch tall overhead cable raceways.

  • Installation of memory, CPU, Disk drives and other server hardware components.

  • The ability to lift at least 40 pounds and work from a step ladder at heights up to 96”.

  • Performance Management

  • Perform advanced troubleshooting and diagnostics

  • Work with peer IT support teams when needed to identify and fix issues.

  • Maintain Operating Systems software and Applications:

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)

  • RHEL storage configuration, including SAN and NAS technology

  • Script development – languages such as shell, Python, & Ansible

  • VMWare (bonus)

  • Unitrends disk based backup (bonus)

  • NetApp Ontap (bonus)

  • 24x7 oncall support on a rotational basis

  • Trouble ticket resolution – working with clients to diagnose and fix issues

  • Adhere to Risk Management, NERC, and Sarbanes Oxley regulations

  • Adhere to department standards, policies, and procedures

  • Work location OJRP and occasionally Innsbrook

  • Work environment office and datacenter computer rooms
