Job Title: SCADA Systems Engineer
Job Description: Location: Richmond, VA/ 12+ Months Contract

Position responsibilities include supporting a SCADA system used to operate and monitor the generation electrical power system and other assets. A broad knowledge and/or willingness to learn a variety of skills from configuration, programming, automation, business operations etc. will be required. It is essential the successful applicant be a highly motivated self starter that can and will be responsible for their work with minimal direction and supervision.

Local candidates strongly preferred.
Only Green Card and US Citizen required

Skills Needed:
  • Works fairly independently, this role formulates or defines specifications for complex software programming applications or modifies/maintains complex existing code.

  • Responsibilities include working with an application dealing with the overall operating system and complex in operation and activities.

  • Candidate works at the highest technical level on all phases of software systems programming applications.

  • Candidate is responsible for working with an individual business unit on multi-project assignments.

  • Verbal and written communication skills; work flow analysis; document/data research; computer applications.

  • Follow procedures verbatim and produce documentation required from each process.

  • Detailed and meticulous on every aspect of the process is critical.

  • NERC Compliance evidence gathering a plus but training is available.

  • Evidence of past performance on critical tasks that require perfection.

  • Follows defined processes and procedures for monthly reporting of NERC Compliance Analyzes business, legal and regulatory requirements for the retention of company records.

  • Analyze business systems to develop accurate and current records retention schedules.

  • Able to handle the most complex work and all aspects of the job using wide knowledge of the field and mastery (advanced knowledge, skill and/or abilities that provides subject matter authority and superior command in a particular job) of the subject matter.

  • May provide input in setting objectives and policy, identifying critical issues and introducing new concepts.

  • NERC or other experience with critical documentation (SOX, HIPPA, etc.) is acceptable.

  • Key is to have a meticulous mindset and follow procedure verbatim but being very easily trained on specific evidences required.

  • Must also be able to work remote with solid internet connection for online video meetings.

  • Ensures compliance to industry/government regulations by working in a team environment to:

  • Collect data from various servers using established methods.

  • Aggregate and verify data using established methods.

  • Collect supporting evidence files (CSV, PDF, XLSX files) and place them in appropriate folders.

  • Analyze results and make recommendations using established methods.

  • Demonstrate initiative and ability to improve current processes.

These actions require these skills:
  • Attention to detail and an eye for accuracy.

  • Ability to present information clearly and concisely.

  • Strong computer skills with familiarity with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Outlook).

  • Familiarity with PCs, Servers, Remote Desktop sessions.

  • Solid analytical skills and ability to solve problems and find resolutions with little supervision.

  • Strong team player with good interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate to develop solutions.

  • Time management skills.

  • Ability to learn quickly, and adjust to a quick-paced working environment.

  • Ability to communicate, orally and in writing, with internal and external audiences.

  • Ability to organize, analyze, and process information and questions quickly and develop answers and solutions.

  • Code C, web services, and various scripting languages.

  • Cyber security principles are a plus.

  • Networking knowledge a plus

Responsibilities:
  • Under general supervision, this fully competent role works from specifications to develop or modify moderately complex software programming applications and information systems.

  • Assists with the design, coding, benchmark testing, debugging and documentation of programs.

  • Works with an individual business unit on specific project assignments.

  • Guides and advises less experienced Software Systems Engineers.

  • Requires guidance in complex problem areas, errors may cause minor delay, expense and disruption
