Job Title: Information Security Analyst (Palo Alto, Juniper)
Job Description: Location: Richmond, VA/ 12+ Months Contract

Under general supervision, monitor, evaluate and maintain systems and procedures established to safeguard information assets from intentional or inadvertent access or destruction. Provide technical and administrative support in the modification, design and set-up of applications security. Evaluate and resolve security related problems and advise users on security issues.

Local candidates strongly preferred.

Role Specific Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
  • Hands on experience in an Information Security role with a network security focus

  • Experience with hardening and best practices for network devices

  • Experience with administering high availability systems

  • Experience with administering enterprise network security solutions including firewall, remote access and authentication systems

  • Experience with , Fortinet, and/or CheckPoint firewalls

  • Excellent organization and time management skills

  • Must be highly motivated and able to work effectively under minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment

  • Must be team-oriented, placing priority on quality and the successful completion of team goals

  • An understanding of TCP/IP, common network protocols, and applications

  • An understanding of operating systems: Microsoft Windows and Linux

  • An understanding of security operations tools such as firewalls, intrusion prevention, vulnerability scanning and malware prevention

  • An understanding of network tools such as routers and switches

  • Ability to perform during high pressure or stressful situations

  • Responsible for working with multiple business units within a specific platform environment on multi-project assignments.

  • Guides and advises less experienced Systems Security Analysts.

  • Errors may cause delay, expense and disruption.

  • Exercise independent judgment and decision-making.

  • Effectively utilize the proper resources to develop solutions and devise new approaches.

Role Specific Responsibilities include:
  • Design, install, configure and maintain a range of network security platforms

  • Develop, implement and document configuration standards, policies, and procedures for operating, managing and ensuring the security of client’s network security infrastructure

  • Formulate security policy and manage security configuration.

  • Provide support for client’s network security systems including firewall, remote access, and authentication systems and their associated management systems.

  • Perform regular patching & maintenance for network security systems.

  • Translate business needs into workable technology solutions that meet the requirements of internal customers while adhering to security standards and policies.

  • Evaluate and assess the severity of weaknesses and vulnerabilities in the Cyber Security Infrastructure and recommend action to address or mitigate the deficiency.

  • Monitor health and status of network security systems.

  • Work closely with other infrastructure support teams to diagnose and troubleshoot issues.

  • Escalate and brief management with precise information about system availability, performance & readiness.

  • Participate in all aspects of Information Security Operations including an on-call rotation.

  • Adhere to regulatory compliance standards and requirements for network security systems and information.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by Management
